The government of Bangladesh has proclaimed 2020–2021 to be Mujib Borsho in honour of the 100th birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the nation's founder. Beginning on March 17, 2020, people will celebrate the Mujib Borsho. The celebrations will end on March 26, 2021. The Father of the Nation and the undisputed leader Bangabandhu was born on 17 March 1920 at Tungipara, Gopalganj. Again, on March 26. 2021, Bangladesh will mark the half- centenary of its independence. The announcement of Mujib Borsho is specially important as the role of Bangabandhu in achieving the independence of Bangladesh is undeniable. The celebrations began with fireworks at different venues across the country, at 8:00 pm to mark the moment when Bangabandhu was born. The opening event, dubbed "Muktir Mohanayak," was broadcast on all Bangladeshi TV networks. 100 kids performed the National Anthem and the song Dhonno Mujib Dhonno, which is dedicated to the Father of the Nation, as part of the show's opening act. The "Mujib Borsho" theme song was later performed by 100 notable Bangladeshi singers alongside Sheikh Rehana, Bangabandhu's youngest daughter. She also gave a short speech on the occasion. Then she recited a poem titled “Baba” written by her elder sister Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The Mujib Borhso is being observed globally, along with Bangladesh, thanks to a UNESCO effort. The government planned a number of programmes to be observed all year long. The programmes will now stop on December 16, 2021 as a result of the coronavirus being discovered in Bangladesh.
