Jane Austen Early Life

English novelist Jane Austen was an anti-romantic during the Romantic Era. She is referred to as anti-romantic because of her firm stance against inexperienced desire. Her six big works earned her fame. The dependence of women on marriage in the quest of a favourable social standing and financial security is frequently explored in Jane Austen's stories.

On December 16, 1775, Jane Austen was born in Stevenon, Hampshire, in the United Kingdom. She arrived one month later than expected. On April 5, 1776, she had baptism at the nearby church with the name Jane. George Austen is her father; he hailed from a wealthy, well-respected family of wool merchants. From generation to generation, inheritance was given to the oldest sons. Because of this, George's family experienced destitution. George was an orphan along with his two sisters. Philadelphia, his sister, travelled to India in search of a husband. George met Cassandra Leigh when a student at St. John's College. Father of Cassandra Leigh served as rector of Oxford's All Souls College.

In all likelihood, George and Cassandra got married in 1763. They were wed on April 26, 1764, in an informal ceremony at Bath's St. Swithin's Church, two months after Cassandra's father passed away. They departed for Hampshire the following day.
